Black Boxes Other Safety Features Coming To A New Car Near You?
Auto makers back the idea.

Just as in flight, your car may soon have its own black box. Like on jet airliners, these black boxes will record a wealth of information which could be useful in determining the cause of an accident among other things.

The major auto makers seem to support the idea of addling these black boxes to all new cars. For now, that support may be a way of fending off government intervention and new regulations.

Are the boxes a good idea? I don't know. We never have seemed to need them before now. I like many am concerned about just what information is being collected, and is that information safe? Who gets this information and why do they get it. With all new technologies these days, there are several questions which we must ask ourselves. I work for a Ford Dealer in CT and I can tell you that now one comes in and says "boy, I wish new cars came with a black box that tracks all my movements". But hey, you here something new every day.
